The Story

Sumatra Decaf Coffee Mandheling is a decaffeinated version of this fine single-origin coffee. This rare Indonesian coffee is delightfully smooth with a rich, heavy body, low acidity, and an exotic flavor with a mellow, earthy, and sweet & subtle taste.

Certifications:

  • Kosher Certified

Flavor Notes: Mellow, Earthy, and Sweet & Subtle

Processing: Washed Process

Roast: Medium Roast

Additional Information:

  • Country: Indonesia
  • Drying: Sun Dry Process
  • Farm: Various Smallholder Farms
  • Low Acidity: The process for developing a lower acid (or more basic) Sumatra Decaf Coffee Mandheling involves roasting beans that are naturally lower in acid, for longer periods of time. This ensures that the acidic components of the coffee are processed out and result in a higher pH.
  • pH: 5.2
  • Altitude: 4,000 Feet
  • Single Origin Farm
  • Decaf Coffee: The Swiss Water Process is a taste-driven, 100% chemical-free decaffeination process that delivers our Sumatra Decaf Coffee Mandheling that is 99.9% caffeine-free while protecting the unique origin characteristics and flavor. Most other processes use chemical solvents, like Methylene Chloride or Ethyl Acetate, to decaffeinate coffee beans.

The medium-roasted decafs that we offer always appear darker than regular medium-roast coffee due to the Swiss Water Process. Water is used to remove the caffeine, which darkens the color of the bean. Because of this, all of our medium roast decaf coffee appears almost to be a dark roast, but they are medium roasted. You will not find this with other decafs that do not use water but use chemicals to remove the caffeine. We believe that the Swiss Water Process decaf coffees are superior in taste and also because they avoid the use of chemicals.
